According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Martin was charged with disrupting a meeting, resisting arrest, and criminal trespass. He was booked into Travis County Jail and spent over 24 hours in custody. All charges were later dropped, according to Martin’s campaign.

Just a normal day for a black man living in America.

Incidentally, if you'd like to know whether you're in the TX-18 voting district, well...

Jesus fucking christ. I’ve seen some really messed up gerrymandered district maps with insane shapes, but the blatant encircling shape of this one makes it just brutal.

After going over time, Republican Rep. Cody Vasut ordered the sergeant-at-arms to remove Martin from the hearing. Video shows Martin being restrained by officers and pulled from the room as he shouted “You have no shame” and “History might not remember you at all.”

Ah there it is, the technicality.

Conservative train of thought be like:

He broke a rule… That was illegal… He’s a criminal… ~He’s black~ He has chosen to be a thug rather than part of polite society and should be thrown in jail with the rest of them! He’s less than human! Throw him in the wood chipper!

Ugh. In the process of writing this I was exaggerating to be funny. But I also just read the recent post about Dachau and the parallels to the concentration camps this damn country is running.
