Community for CRPG and other RPG discussions. Focus is on CRPGs, but discussion around JPRGs, ARPGs and hybrid games with RPG components is also welcome.

This might end up as a BG3 kind of situation: a fine game in its own right but would have been better for everyone involved if it was just called something else. "Vampire Dishonored" sounds fine but it's not really what I wanted. I'm also very sceptical about ~~Johnny Silverhand~~ "Fabian" and the whole voice-in-your-head trope. We'll see though.

Mostly I'm sad it likely won't have the charm of the first game. After his firing we already know it won't have Brian Mitsoda as the news anchor. I can guarantee you it won't have Deb of Night. Will we see a Friggen Chicken advert?

The Chinese Room are competent and it sounds okay but I'm sad for what could have been.

While I am a huge VTMB fan, I haven't seen too much of the game (I believe there were gameplay videos of the abandoned build from the previous studio). I've mostly been following the news and checking out concept art.

I also do not expect this to be a true sequel to VTMB. But I am hoping it will be a solid game.

Perhaps some other developer may make something closer to a true sequel to VTMB. Who knows?

I recommend reading Chris Avellone's post about the Mitsoda firing from way back on 2021. Knowing what went into getting the project started, how draining it was and how devastatingly it ended I suspect all those involved just want to forget it. This was our one and only chance at a true sequel, spiritual or otherwise.
