"If a publication ran an editors' note to 'clarify' that some portion of Nazi death camp victims had preexisting conditions, it would rightfully be accused of Holocaust denialism," said writer Natalie Shure. "This is one of the most depraved things The New York Times has ever published."

May I quibble? This is just one of the many, many depraved things The New York Times has published. And it's pretty damned depraved, but I don't think it's in the top twenty.

Against my better judgement, what kind of thing would enter the top 20 list?

[–] skuzz@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 days ago

NYT has not been good journalism for well over a century. I don't understand why people give them the time of day.

"Preexisting health condition"? You mean...needing food to survive?

No, cerebral palsy.

People are definitely dying of starvation, but this one photo was misleading. It illustrated both the palsy and the starvation, while only telling you about the starvation.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

A none starved kid with cerebral palsy don't look terrible like that but a starved kid even with no precondition can look like that. Sono there is nothing misleading.

They've been manufacturing consent for this genocide since the beginning now. The liberal media belongs in the gutters of history. And remember, even Julius Streicher of Der Stürmer hanged for his crimes. Now we'll wait and see how merciful history will be with these goons.

"Liberal media"? They're all owned by billionaires. It's billionaire media.

[–] febra@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

I'm sorry, that's what I meant by liberal. I forget that not everyone shares the same understanding of this word as me. Conservatives fall into the same category too. What I mean by liberal is someone supporting liberalism in its true sense, such as supporting capitalism and private individuals owning huge media houses. Both of these groups inherently support the billionaires' right to own the press.

every outlet that promoted this false narrative must update their coverage to reflect the full truth

"Oh, you want the full truth?"

"No no no, no no not that. Just enough context to encompass slightly more of this one individual child, and then stop."

I thought I ate the onion on this one
