It's "free" on Xbox PC Gamepass as well but if you prefer to own your games steam is the way to go. I played it on Gamepass and enjoyed it a lot. Not as good as Doom Eternal but it's still a great game.

Can I play Xbox PC game pass on Linux? Because I don’t use windows.

Unfortunately only the cloud browser based versions. Nothing local on Linux.
