Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Our mexi is newer, more innovative. Better for your pocket and the environment than the old mexi.

How about Monaco and Morocco?

[–] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 10 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

MonaCo -> Mona is a female name, so maybe a perfume company?

MoroCco -> (the second c is silent, like in the country name) Moro is short for tomorrow, so something something tech it is.

Hong Kong sounds like giant monster that climbs a skyscraper.

That's funny because several local companies use it to market themselves:

Banxico

Banamex

Pemex

Specifically, PepsiCo

Texas sounds like "roof" in Spanish

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Can I get a Spanish translation of 'The texas, the texas is on fire. We don't no water let the motherfucker burn. Burn motherfucker, burn".

[–] DirigibleProtein@aussie.zone 6 points 3 days ago

“El Texas, el Texas está en llamas. No tenemos agua, deja que el hijo de puta se queme. Quema hijo de puta, quema"

"¡Eat a duck - y mas!" - tacky Japanese restaurant in Mexico.

[–] megane_kun@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But Peking duck is known as part of Chinese cuisine, right?

Ah hell, I'll take it. Peking duck slices on sushi rice, or a peking duck rice bowl with char siu sauce or whatever. Maybe char siu-stuffed nigiri. Think of the possibilities!!

I guess it could be a burrito joint in Dotonbori.

[–] cloudless@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why is the name in half English and half Spanish?

[–] not_woody_shaw@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Half English, half Spanish, all Japanese. Itadakimasu!

[–] I_Fart_Glitter@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago

Calexico is the name of the merger.

[–] Sibbo@sopuli.xyz 7 points 3 days ago

MexiCo -> Mexi sounds so meaningless, it could be anything that has been founded in the last ten years.

★★★★☆ Better than US Robots Inc. or Cyberdyne

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

Sound just like Pepsi Co
