Are we checking? This is a place to take a p*ss out of motorsports.
F1 is not the only motorsport in the world, so go ahead and post your shitposts about WEC or MotoGP or IndyCar or ralley or Polish Speedway or whatever. Even Formula E, I guess. It needs some love, too.
By the way, F2 > F1.
Rules? What rules? Stop inventing. Just don't be a douche. Lemmy.world's sporting conduct applies.

That's not the displayed name when you view a list of communities in eg. PieFed and also doesn't come up in search when you search formuladank
https://piefed.social/topic/sports-fitness

This makes it hard for potential new joiners to understand what sub they are seeing, and could just skip over it
Weird, I have never seen any display names for communities. Maybe it's a piefed bug or option you can disable.
It's not a bug, it's a feature. Literally.
That ways subs like mlb@lemmy.ml can have Major League Baseball display as their name. so people can more easily discover them.
I believe not all apps support showing display names for subs/users. Summit for example only added it relatively recently.
But otherwise yeah, it's a Lemmy feature and it's pretty great.
The sub changes display name constantly in reference to current events. It's a great tradition that is part of the fun.
Exactly 👍
I'm not a new member here or the subreddit predating it. But I am confused, all the time, about everything.
