I personally prefer serif fonts in my books and ebooks, but sans-serif pretty much everywhere else (including manga). I think the serifs kind of make it feel more book-like to me. It's like I am reading with my pinky extended.

Meta aside:

This actually reminds me of a disagreement I have with my wife that could be a future discussion topic. When reading a book digitally, I actually prefer just vertically scrolling through the book rather than flipping "pages".

I wish actual vertical writing and scrolls made a comeback over binders.

Colleagues know I want to make time capsules case, so one can read while it rains outside.

It's terrible all vertical mobile software doesn't orient vertical text correctly.

I associate it with something old. Like a first edition of an antique book. So reading "with your pinky out" is a good way to put it.

vertically scrolling through the book

I do this as well. Lets my eyes keep on the same level and just go side by side. But I put the question in the question pool. Since I'm running out of real questions it's just silly stuff like this week's from here on out.

Dyslexic friendly, gradient friendly, and perhaps better shorthands: 🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️🙇‍♀️

Serif is alright for commoners ig. ╮(︶▽︶)╭

I get what you meant, but I think the phrasing "for commoners" is funny since it's the exact opposite of the "reading with your pinky out".

You having a stroke there or just speaking entish?

It's a test for your font if you can recognize all the differing characters.

By your reply, I have to assume you can't tell them apart at a glance: which shows the ineffectiveness of your font.

I see. O and 0 is no problem but I and l is almost impossible to distinguish here. Then again, most people don't read the actual letter anyway, so I never had any problems reading basic arial.

It gets difficult on glyphs so condensed, you wonder if our ancestors hated us.

But yeah, this is why font design matter.

Wingdings or nothing!

I have been using Montserrat as I found it the easiest to read at the moment.

But for style I do like little squigglies / fancy first letter art (can’t remember its name)

Illuminated letters. Something I won't ever forget because I got made fun of at school because of them. And now you won't ever forget as well because that stupid fuck who mods the community thought that they were the sign used by a secret society.

They’re not? My secret society has been using them wrong for all this time?

Now I feel stupid.
