RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Hey @cm0002@piefed.world if that works. I never got a reply and what you pasted before is unreadable by me even if I go to like 200% as the image does not get large, just the text, on the web so I have no idea what is there. I could only move forward with no communication from whatever your doing or from the mod who removed the devils panties comic because they did not like that it was about her going to a protest which is why I moved to posting to another community.

Huh.. I cross post stuff regularly just to try and help spread where people can see stuff given how small the fediverse is, I hadn't considered someone might find it annoying if I regularly cross-posted their submissions

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 13 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

this guy vaccums up stuff from lemmy.ml instances and posts it to lemmy.world as some sort of wierd vendetta against lemmy.ml ideology or some such. As I mentioned to him if he would just post it himself from the devils panties website that would not be as annoying but its that I post and within and hour he does his thing no matter what time of day I post. Every day. I don't post the weekend ones so he does not unless I do because I liked a saturday. Its like the virtual world version of someone parroting everything you say . ie. stop copying me, stop copying me, no I said you stop, no I said you stop.

The problem with lemmy.ml that the admins sometimes ban users from all .ml communities, regardless of topic. So if someone had a personal beef on political debate, they will ban the user from !comics@lemmy.ml. If you are interested some stories about what's going on there, read some posts on !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com or on !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works.

Some instances already block lemmy.ml. So it's not a simple vendetta, cm just want to help spread your posts to those people banned by ml admins and instances which preemptively defederate from them

It's called cross posting and lets people who are in different communities see the same content without just having a bunch if individual separate posts. Some front ends let comments be combined into one post when it is cross posted.

Plus I have lemmy.ml blocked so it lets me see the same content, and thank you for doing the initial post!

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 8 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

That's fine, but link the original post, don't try to pass it off as your own, especially when disparaging the OP/original instance.

[–] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ah, I usually just write "crosspost" in the title or body somewhere, that way people know to look for the original thread if they want more context

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 5 points 2 weeks ago

That's great, and I'm sure OPs appreciate it. Thank you for having integrity. It's too often sorely lacking.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

yeah sorry its just an issue where I can't put screenshots into relies So I needed some way to do it and was hoping it would be cool here. Its from https://piefed.social/post/1092217. So I needed to show him that I never got a message reply but he shows as having replied so we at least I think have proved that part to each other.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 2 points 2 weeks ago

Are my replies posting out of order again? I replied to https://lemmy.world/comment/18515136

No apology necessary, please accept mine for any confusion!

Certainly. I don't have issues with crossposting in general, just the way its being done systematically by the one user in this case. Especially when I had stopped posting to the original instance due to getting a devils panties removed. So im specifically not posting there.

[–] astrsk@fedia.io 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I blocked this account a while ago because it was so annoying and felt too bot-like. I’d rather read and interact with posts from real people. Even if that account is a real person, they’re behaving like a bot and that should not be encouraged, imo.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

I get the feeling. That is exactly how I want to interact to. Its why I tend to post something with the comic. Whatevers on my mind at the time and oftentimes dumb but its just to do something human. I also sorta feel bad if Im just posting the persons comic and bypassing their site but if its more a social thing it feels more ok. I actually messed around with how to post it when I started and settled on doing the link to the comic as it shows up nice in feeds but has a possibility for the person to go to the site and I assume is less stress on the federation resources although I think they cached the image or something so not sure if it is a savings vs uploading the image.

[–] oftheair@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

imagine if lemmy had actual two way blocking, this might not be as much of a problem!

[–] Blaze@piefed.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hello HubertManne,

This post from !fedigrow@lemmy.zip is probably relevant for this conversation: https://piefed.social/post/957278

[–] Blaze@piefed.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No worries! You might want to open another thread there, it could be a better community to discuss that topic than here.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah I was not so much discussing the topic as get around that I could not upload an image on a reply. the real conversation is on the comics thread and im really just looking to talk with the guy. I really wish though that we had reciprocal blocking as that would make this type of thing impossible. Its something I also wanted for mmo chats.

[–] Blaze@piefed.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Don't we have reciprocal blocking on Piefed? Or maybe it only works with Piefed users?

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Im not sure about that, but he can still seem to see my posts with me having him blocked. So it must not work federation wide. This was something again I found with mmo chat. Blocking someone is like giving them invisibility powers. You don't see them but they can see you which is some way is creepy. All the same if its a flasher its worth it.

[–] Blaze@piefed.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He might use a non logged window to see your posts.

Let me try, I'm curious now.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 2 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

No, because he would not be able to cross post from the logged on user if he could not see it from the user.

[–] Blaze@piefed.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I just tried, between Piefed and Lemmy the mutual blocking doesn't work indeed

[–] oftheair@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We suspect this is because lemmy does not use standard activitypub protocols for blocking and so does not respect two way blocking.

[–] Blaze@piefed.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Mastodon has two ways blocking, right?

@rimu@piefed.social, it seems like mutual blocking does not work ?

Edit: it works on the same instance

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

I didn't mind the reposting, but reposting very niche c/asklemmy questions is way over the top, like I doubt they actually cared about the topic of the many of the questions they reposted.
