Ebikes, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, longboards, eboards, motorcycles, skates, unicycles, heelies, or an office chair: Whatever floats your goat, this is all things micromobility!

"Transportation using lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, especially electric ones that may be borrowed as part of a self-service rental program in which people rent vehicles for short-term use within a town or city.

micromobility is seen as a potential solution to moving people more efficiently around cities"

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

I haven't been active in bike advocacy in nearly twenty years, and these are all the exact same arguments we dealt with back then. It saddens me that all these long lost arguments are still being made by car drivers.

Cycling is part of the war on cars that'll turn our country soft by promoting thick, muscular thighs.

Someone, probably

Being able to crush a watermelon with your calves is woke!

I realise you're probably joking but I've always found this to be temporary. If you're cycling regularly and the saddle pain lasts longer than a few weeks you should probably try a different saddle (I do only cycle about 60km a week so maybe not true if you're doing much longer distances)

No, I'm not joking. I even used the numbing cream to avoid the pain. Tried three or four different saddles - all were bad. Now I'm a proud motorcyclist.

Get a recumbent or a scooter or board or...

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

I second the vote for a recumbent. I switched to one in 2006 and never looked back. So comfy. You can go for a bike ride and have a lie down at the same time.

Wait, that still has a saddle.

[–] vivalapivo@lemmy.today -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

But much more comfortable one and the softer suspension

I suppose you've got me there, they're a little faster too...

In heavy traffic, bikes are the fastest thing on the road.

*too

Also, for me, it's actually faster and I never have to worry about parking or traffic jams. It won't be the case for everyone, but a lot of people are surprised to learn that, once they figure out their route, it's either about the same or faster.
