Reddit explained that it will verify users' age by partnering with Persona, an identity verification company that raised $200 million in April in a series D round led by Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund. Persona asks users to upload a selfie or photo ID in order to verify their age. Reddit says it does not have access to these images, and that Persona does not retain those photos for more than seven days.

UK users need photo ID to view any adult content on the internet. Those subs often include gore. I don't understand what point the author is trying to make.
a lot of the discussion about "require age verification to view adult content" tends to oversimplify "adult content == pornography"
which in turn means opposition to these laws gets dismissed / trivialized as "oh, so you want children to look at porn then?"
I think it's an important reminder that "adult content" is much broader than 13 year olds who want to go to PornHub and search "boobies"
Didn't read the article, but the title is probably just your run-of-the-mill engagement bait and only tangentially related to the content. It's 2025 after all.
