Sorry for the repeated negative posts but still feel shit from the sleep thing today.
I just want things to go back to normal. It's fucking me up at work. Tired, demoralised.
You're ok mate. Vent all you like. I'm about to get personal......
I know you were having constipation problems. Is that still the case? Because that can have a big impact on your sleep and well-being. If your not shitting every day or atleast every second day something is wrong.
I appreciate it, I just hate being so negative.
That other issue cleared up. Itβs this anti depressant thatβs the problem. Since I started taking it (also works to quit smoking) sleep has been shit but it does a great job with other stuff.
Now it has to be one or the other.
Itβs tough tbh.
screams into void
hopes that void cat might appear in response
E: I am finally done with my last day of work before my trip!! Tomorrow I start driving around to get gift items and stuff, then start packing. Starting to feel real! π₯³
Nearly void cat is checking in from a safe distance, she doesn't like loud noises but she's happy to know that holidays are afoot!
Void channeling unicorn
happy dance π
Anthem for the Year 2000 - Silverchair still hits hard.
Fuck that album is so damn good
Hotel club lounge have got me pegged. Take the empty plate, leave the empty glass because it will be refilled.
Snorkelling today, was absolutely stunning out there. Calm, sunny and filled with beautiful fish and coral.
sounds like heaven π
so jelly re the snorkling,
here in wintry Seaholme I pick up bits of coral and shells and use my imagination
Last day of in-office work before I go away for a month (where I might do a bit of occasional remote work because the money would be nice...) Really dry and boring document review to do today but it could be worse.
Things remain generally very quiet though (compared to the utter craziness that we had all of last financial year), so I'm actually legitimately a bit worried about how the business will keep up especially after I come back. Eh, that's not a problem for today. Maybe it's the universe prompting me to think a bit broader.
E: 3 hours to go and I still feel like clawing my eyeballs out
Melbcat has been checked out, given a vitamin b shot and blood test, and her blood pressure med is going up to a whole tablet.
The little black spot on her nose will be monitored as it could be precancerous, and if it gets large again thereβs a cream that can resolve it.
Edit: Dammit. Just answered a spam βsolarβ call thinking for some reason the vet was calling back. Letting whoever it was know itβs a live number. I reported to Scamwatch and blocked their number but theyβre probably spoofed anyway.
so , Melbcat is being looked after well and everything is under control π
Bunnings chicken salt: 10/10, do recommend
Hold up WAT
Currently in random aisles they have Butcher's Axe chicken salt. At least moorabbin doth
Jfc I'm pretty damn glad I pirated 28 Years Later and didn't go to the cinema to watch it like I'd planned. I hadn't watched any trailers or read any reviews.
And, what in the ever loving shit was that pile of utter wank thrust upon my eyes?
1/10 and it gets the 1 point purely for the Power Rangers scene because by that point I genuinely didn't think it could possibly get any worse but nope, to my utter disbelief they managed to subvert my expectations and pull it off.
That film has no redeeming features and I want money back for my time wasted.
Fucking hell, I really hated that film. I should've turned it off 5 minutes in when it became apparent that the opening scene wasn't a parody.
If they'd have called it "Monty Python's 28 inches later" it would've still been a shit Monty Python film by their standards, but at least I would've known what to expect.
I have not seen it, but I am here for your rage
Managed to get into work.
Not to most comforable to walk around unfortunately.
Going to try and do as little on my feet today as possible.
I hope you heal quickly. Nails are one of those things that give me the heebie jeebies. Ouch.
Thanks Ceo.
Nail might be ok but my toe was swollen and I spent most of the day with ice on my foot.
I'll do another ice pack session today after I finish work, I hope I haven't aggrevated it today by coming back to work.
Why, why do people keep coming to interrupt me during my lunch break?
I'm playing games on my Switch, is that not sign enough that I should be left alone?
I have a rental inspection this morning, which means I can't slob around in my pyjamas all day. I should probably find somewhere else for those random things I threw in the bath tub yesterday to give me more room to sort things. Mr Woof is going to be very upset, two visitors in the same week, that's like a full on invasion of our territory!
I saw the band Ulthar are playing the Bendigo Hotel this Saturday. They're the sort of band I thought would be too small to ever come here.
Check them out if you like the idea of an album being two 20 minute songs full of blackened death metal rifs
Inspection done. Mr Woof was as upset about the invasion as expected and Miss Meow is still in hiding.
The sun has come out and it's a fairly decent day outside, I'm hoping it's enough to get a load of towels dry.
Edit: Miss Meow has just emerged from underneath the couch.
Meeting cancelled is perhaps the best mail notification ever
Having chops for tea tonight. You bet I'm gonna pick the best looking ones for me.
Chefβs payment.
Always
Thank you for introducing me to this term!!
omg, The young Seagoon's local beach is under tsunami alert, luckily they live on a hill about a km away and will be staying home, I know it seems a long way but they spend about an hour at the beach everyday
That earthquake off the coast of Kamchatka has set off so many tsunami warnings across the Pacific! 8.8 is big though.
Thoughts on Deb mashed potato? Seems to be all that's in supermarkets for instant mashed potato. I have been randomly craving mashed potato and wanna try.
Edit: yes I can appreciate real potato would be better but I'm interested in the shelf stability and convenience. I will try and report back
Deb is fake mashed potato. It also goes very very gluey unless made up veerry carefully and not stirred too much. I wouldn't bother with it. For shelf stable spuds, buy brushed potatoes, put them in a brown paper bag with a dry wettex/foam sponge in your fridge crisper drawer - they will last 6 months at least and maybe longer. Toss any that grow green sprouts or get very wrinkly, but most will still be good at least that long and will taste much much better than Deb. Also a shittonne cheaper. If you can, go to Vic Market and get a 5kg bag which will last a long time.
Also, for the absolute best mashed spud, chop well-scrubbed brushed spuds into largish chunks (no need to peel), put in COLD water and bring up to a boil very slowly. The 15 mins starts as the water begins to simmer. This does wunnnderful things as the cell walls of the spud slowly degrade but the starch grains don't, so the resulting mash is never gluey and tastes intensely of potato. Once tender, press/rub through a colander or sieve and beat a bit with a wooden spoon rather than using a potato masher, then steam off residual moisture before adding salt/pepper/milk/butter/cheeee to taste.
This mix can also be used to make pretty damn nice hash browns. Chill the mash in a lined loaf tin, then slice into convenient size(s), dust with seasoned flour and fry. You can even egg/panko the slices for extra crunch. Coated slices can be frozen for instant hash browns as needed. And you are fully in control of the shape ...
Make your own
Have never tried it and have no intention to. Leave that ultra processed chalk on the shelf. If you can boil water you can make mashed potato. No skills required. Peel and chop potato, boil in salted water until done. Drain, mash, add some butter and milk. Fluffy goodness done.
Well my day didnβt as planned in regards to my toe.
Needless to say I freaked out and got quite stressed.
Toe details
When I got home I checked the dressing around my toe and noticed a coloured spot.
Turned out I had agitated it a bit and it was some sort of liquid and made my toe wet.
In addition to that I noticed my toenail was lifting more than what it seemed to be a couple of days ago, I may have made it worse by going to work today.
Iβve booked into another clinic with a new doctor but I think Iβm going to have to face reality that Iβll end up losing my pinky nail.
okay guys I gotta change seats and do some walking at home to ease my back
I recently read that ABC article on how a faecal transplant allegedly treated a woman's bipolar. Would you do such a transplant?
Shit yeah
They're using faecal transplants for a number of issues now. Notably obesity and diabetes and other such issues linked to the gut biome. Even regular depression and some addictions. Makes sense to me. Yes, I'd give it a whirl.
I would want a gastro specialist to really go through the risks for my specific circumstances before I signed up for it.
The reason it can be so powerful are the same that can make it risky -- people have died from poop that contained bad infectious material that was not picked up in screening, but also it might result in a transplant of traits from donors (food preferences, susceptibility to mental health concerns, weight changes etc.). That said, I also have an illness for which I would try any reasonably achievable treatment, even if the possibility of cure was low, and I'd be willing to take on more risk.
I used to conceptualise FMT as a very broad spectrum pro-biotic, but probiotics typically just pass right on through. An FMT really is a total re-colonisation an important system we still barely understand.
I donβt know much about bipolar but it seems like a pretty awful experience. The chance of a permanent cure would be tempting.
