Hello, LinkedIn, who randomly for no reason shut down my account "for security reasons" and now requires my passport, social security and whatnot to unlock it.

Go fuck yourself

But how else would you respond to a recruiter who has no idea what they contact you about? They earn a response to their unsolicited request! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Its only a matter of time until people start using AI deep-fakes to pass these ID checks. Bonus points if the company uses AI to check it, because that is already how a ton of models work.

"Those who give up privacy for security deserve neither"

This is already happening. Both of these statements are already true.

We know that these websites respond to all government information requests.

This is just blackmail fodder. Any sheriff deputy can request IDs and browsing history. It's a privacy nightmare.

Reverb suspended my account after I ordered a guitar pedal with my credit card. It was a very, very weird thing I've never experienced before. The only way I could re-instate it was to send them my government ID via email. I did not because of the litany of hacks to email systems at companies that compromise user privacy. Such an asinine escalation. I like Reverb but now caution anyone curious about buying anything from them.

Some years ago a company claimed I had signed a contract with them and I owed them money. I told them that no, and that they had to prove I had a contract. They sent me a copy with a badly forged signature and claimed it was me personally who signed it. I laughed at them and told them they could go fuck themselves. They demanded I send them a copy of my ID, I ignored them until they hired a lawyer and opened a file. Upon a request of a judge, I sent a copy of my ID, they closed the case, and the company burned through several hundred euros for nothing. What a sack of dicks.

You should add travel documents to the list, my sister had to submit passport photos and a standard photo to get a visa to the UK.
