papercut is like someone who have difficulty to get into a situation/task/event, so hours before that happens they're being harrassed by the satanized version of their own mind so they have complete breakdown. the song is that specific moment, unrelated to whether the actual situation later when they come to it is actually defeats them or anti-climatically not at all.
new divide— I don't quite get the feeling to be able to make up a scenario out of it. I usually listen to these album-by-album. new divide being a single it's usually not in my playlist. but I like the overal sound.
