Resource scarcity as a child leads to lifelong prioritization of short term needs over long term rewards.

They don't just want more people. They want more people born into poverty and incable of understanding it's better to wait and pay in cash than use credit and pay interest.

The wealthy plan decades ahead. They want the rest of us planning pay check to pay check.

It's not that they're just evil and want us to suffer in the moment. There's logical reasons they're doing evil shit.

Because the wealthy can afford to plan decades ahead

If we want to win the class war we need to understand this stuff and stop focusing on one battle at a time

I've seen this theory, effectively built on the notion that Americans are losing access to pools of cheap labor overseas and are attempting to build up a human stockpile of miserables at home. But that runs counter to (a) heavy investment in automation, particularly with regard to the service sector in the belief large numbers of people can be made redundant and (b) federally funded purges of migrant populations and pogroms targeting low income counties and states intended to remove people en mass.

I'll spot you a second theory that's largely rooted in the modern American adoption of eugenics as a theory of human development. The current crop of national leaders is so heavily pilled on their Calvinism-esque understanding of Darwinism that they really do believe some number of children are "born blessed" to succeed. Merely popping out of the womb is enough for Almighty God to do his thing and lead you on the path to success.

Sometimes. Most of them seem totally happy to kill the golden goose. They're running both the economy and the planet into the ground for short term gains.

They'd rather have half a personal sized pizza than a regular slice of an XXL pizza, even if that's objectively less pizza.

I think many of them would be totally down to return to medieval feudalism with lords and peasants, even if that meant giving up day to day luxuries simply because they'd feel more powerful.

It's a mental sickness, not an understandable or rational desire for wealth.

You're confusing the 0.01% (what I'm talking about) with the 10%.

I'm not talking about a suburb of mcmansions planning decades ahead, I mean the ones living on private islands.

And the 0.1% are fine with burning down the system, because they're already on top. They essentially already live as kings. Musk just built a full on town as his fiefdom even.

So the .01% are the ones you're saying that are planning decades ahead. I don't think that's true, they don't have some sort of master plan for society.

I think we've entered the era of the rich running out of good exploits for the peasants, so we're seeing them self-cannibalize each other. All of our current economy has moved beyond screwing over workers and customers and is now based on the .01% screwing over the 10% that they pretended was part of their class for awhile.

They only have the most half hearted approach to what comes after that process is complete. They might build a dumb bunker or cosplay at being a post apocalypse warlord, but their 'plans' aren't much beyond a tabletop game roleplay.

"Conservatives" don't exist in the USA; the real RINOs are the Trumpites (=fascists) and evangelist fundamentalists, and they seek to establish a Christian shariah, aka a theocracy.

True conservatives only want to keep the status quo, not to reverse it back to a pathetic age of idiocy.

Gonna go against the grain here and say that people are only really worried about school shootings because the victims are usually white children, which makes white people scared despite them not being the primary targets of most gun violence.

I don't trust most gun control measures because almost all of them give an unprecedented amount of power to the police, who, as seen through ICE raids, will NOT go after dangerous criminals and white supremacists having a hoard of guns, but instead will go after minorities who happen to be armed.

You can't have gun control in America without a complete national police overhaul.

Personally I trust gun control, but only if the police is also dearmed and the military under civilian control (ie., the people collectively command, not a politician). I agree with you.

what are we supposed to do, shoot the police? Not gonna happen. Less guns will mean less gun violence. We already proved we arent gonna do anything when they use their guns on us. Your hypothetical only works when its hypothetical. We are way past the point of 2As intended purpose and it hasnt been seeming like it actually protects us at all.

Less guns will mean less gun violence

I live in a country where we have 20x less guns than in the US but 4x the gun violence and 6x the police violence. The quantity matters little. Switzerland has more lax laws than half of the US states and more guns than almost all of Europe and everyone is obligated to keep a fully automatic SG550 in their home after their military service. I don't see them making the news for shooting children.

So you're just gonna accept fascism and let your neighbors get taken away by the Gestapo? People DO things when their guns are used on us inappropriately. The problem is that both American main parties are bootlickers who twist themselves into a pretzel to justify police violence. There was a huge wave of protests in 2020 exactly because of that.

I'll just say one more thing: there's a reason most black people from the hood have weapons while most people from the suburbs don't. The later have pigs at their beck and call.

When people show you who they are, believe them. Not what they say, but their actions. Republicans have empathy that's as deep as the ocean and looove babies! ...Until they're born. Into a burning planet. Then, they are supposed to work. And they're not guaranteed healthcare or education. And they are allowed to be abused, and justice is kept from them. That's the conditional, toxic love they offer...

The current system is setup to force you to have and raise children you can't afford and don't have the time to raise properly, because both parents have to work full time to survive. Conservatives dont want you to succeed, that's the point. If you don't do everything right, they'll take your kids and use them as slave labor or worse. It's by design. No different than when they stole native children, used them, abused them, and then let them die.

Children aren't a burden for the rich. They don't even raise their own kids. They get an illegal immigrant to do the hard stuff, and treat them like a live in slave. Then once the kids is old enough they send them off to some posh indoctrination camp that costs 20k a month for 10+ years. To the rich, children are just another asset. They offload the responsibility and hard work to other people so they can concentrate on stealing from the poor. Then once the child is a legal adult and fully brainwashed, they fold them into the family crime syndicate.
