Do we have the coordinates of this island? Just for like archival purposes.
Aspen Anti-Billionaire Society
A community dedicated to spreading awareness of the negative impacts of the billionaire class, especially the 250 richest people on the planet
We believe that the existence of the 0.01% comes at a cost to the rest of us, even multi-millionaires, and hope to spread awareness of this problem among the 1% (who have the most resources to affect change)
All discussion and links related to wealth inequality and related activism are welcome. We hope that this community can serve as an easily accessible repository of information about wealth inequality
Please meet disagreement with civility so we can foster productive discourse
Indian Creek Island: 25.877766987495885, -80.13578968001369. Only one bridge in and out, guarded with a security checkpoint by their own very well funded police force which patrols the island and its waterways at a rather generous 1:5 police-to-resident ratio. It is surrounded by all types of surveillance, infrared cameras, radar, and more. It is run by their own municipal government and of course, features a massive private golf course. There is nothing open to the public on that island and despite looking like any other snobby gated community it's no joke and is deceptively difficult to get there.
I think it's important for people to understand how much these people are trying to separate themselves from us. Because they're afraid of us.
That island should be confiscated by society and all the inhabitants evicted into open water to drown, and the homes refurbished into community homes for all. And the golf lane should be removed in favour for forests. If billionnaires can advocate for the death of the worldwide community, then so can we for billionnaire tyranny!
The only good billionnaire is one who isn't a billionnaire anymore.
The only thing that eases the pain of reading this is Floridians getting what they voted for.
The neighbors demanded compensation for the new costs they would incur.
Lucky for the poor billionaires, the ever-fast working Florida Republicans quickly passed a law that "prevents cities from blocking or charging for the extension of sewage systems to neighboring areas, ensuring that Indian Creek can now tap into Surfside’s infrastructure—free of charge."
If you vote Republican you're a wealthy bigot or a tool.
Set up a pump on the Surfside side of that connection and set it to backflow the sewage back up their pipes.
If they pay you turn off the pump then let them use your infrastructure otherwise they just get shit pumping back up their toilets.
These people have Our BEST INTERESTS at Heart! That's why they are LITERALLY TRYING TO SHIT ON US!
The true form of trickle down economics is coming into plain view I see.
While the law may have been passed legally, it raised serious questions about the broader implications of this type of influence. After all, not everyone has the means to lobby for such favorable treatment.
No shit. We need to stop agreeing to call this sort of thing Legal or we need to drop any affiliation between Legal and Just/Fair. The legal system is a corrupt, and therefore antiquated, system in the US.
ALSO, just because I was curious, the article doesn’t say where the sewage is going right now. Usually you wouldn’t construct houses with nowhere for the sewage to go so minimally it would be going into some sort of septic tank? Aren’t they living there already?
I assumed it was being pumped into the ocean? Pumping our shit into bodies of water has kind of been humankind's MO for a couple thousand years now.
if they did that, we would see large number of infections around the area.
Do you know the story around the Seine and the Paris Olympics? Human's throwing their poop in bodies of water is as old as recorded history.
Never before has anyones effluence had so much influence
These people need to have the septic thrown over them and into their mouths. Let the economy trickle down into them!
