Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Yeah, let's definitely go back to this.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 10 points 8 months ago

Or this. All those unaborted abandoned babies can be shoved down the chimneys.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

The children yearn for the mines!

[–] forrgott@lemmy.sdf.org 43 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Funny how allowing the owner class to exploit children is phrased to imply it's giving children a choice. 🤮

[–] DNS@discuss.online 19 points 8 months ago (1 children)

This is Republicans soft launching "children yearn for the mines" rhetoric. USA is effectively regressing and removing what originally made this country "great." I fear for my children as they grow older. I can only do so much as a parent to steer them onto a path of least hardship, but Republicans are increasingly making that difficult.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.sdf.org 10 points 8 months ago

I don't think we started out great, honestly. Our history is pretty fucking dark. I think we could have been great, and we might have even been getting close. But I absolutely agree that the progress we have made is regressing in front of our eyes. Worse, anybody who doesn't celebrate this senseless destruction is also being demonized.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago

It isn't going to be their children doing it either, it will be ours.

So instead of having the rich and powerful abuse and assault immigrants they should abuse and assault children? Maybe on an island? Is there a list?

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I heard about some Epstein list or something.

[–] Tuxman@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 months ago

Funnily, I could swear when I was a kid I’ve seen it called the “Epstain List”

[–] fodor@lemmy.zip 35 points 8 months ago (1 children)

What the fuck does he mean by "allow". You think the kids want to work? Dear God, the kids want to be hanging out. Maybe playing some video games or going to the pool or shit like that.

At least be honest. You want to jack up rent so high that their parents can't afford to pay it so the parents make the kids chip in. That's what you want, because you're a sick motherfucker.

[–] renrenPDX@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago (4 children)

Allow, as in let them work like they used to, with little to no regulation. It was never about kids wanting to work.

Just look at those plucky young entrepreneurs living their best life:

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 8 months ago (2 children)

I feel like anyone suggesting this has never interacted with a child.

Perhaps surprisingly, most kids will happily pick fruit for say, 15 minutes.

If you want them to do it for 40 hours a week that's going to require some extreme motivation.

[–] womjunru@lemmy.cafe 12 points 8 months ago

Yeah and they aren’t paying well, so.. beat them?

There's a side effect to this which I don't think anyone is picking up: an inherent devaluing of the work that immigrants do here. They pivoted from "immigrants are criminals and rapists" to "OK, maybe some aren't, but the ones who aren't are doing work so simple your kids could do it".

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 8 months ago (1 children)

WHO COULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING?

[–] Grass@sh.itjust.works 15 points 8 months ago

if there was a god, and god wasn't a sick twisted evil fuck like in the bible, all these fuckers would die from horrendously painful burn damage after surviving a lightning strike

[–] sbbq@lemmy.zip 14 points 8 months ago

The idea of having to worry about my kids work schedule on top of school and my own shit to do in return for starvation wages? Nah, we're good.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 13 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Sounds great, I can’t wait to see 10 year olds roofing my house in July.

[–] IphtashuFitz@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

Send them to live in a shack on a farm instead of going to school.

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 12 points 8 months ago

"Let children do it, but not my children."

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 12 points 8 months ago

The worst fucking timeline.

I guess the baby-talk "maga" means - bring back child labor. That was the time period when America was greatest?

[–] devolution@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago

His pasty white ass should be in the fields first.

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 11 points 8 months ago

His kids and grandkids first. In fact, if there aren't enough necessary workers, maybe "news" hosts should be forced into labour.

[–] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

His kids first, fields or mines

When that doesn'twork out are they going to move to slavery?

[–] Maeve@midwest.social 8 points 8 months ago

Subsidized corpo farms: 👍👍 Subsidized small farms: 👎👎 Exploitation of the masses, including the children: 👍👍👍🥰

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 8 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

magas: Mass Deportation Now!

maga 1: omg I just realized if we deport all the illegulls we won't have a cheap labor force to exploit anymore!

maga 2: Hmm let's see, what other group's labor could we exploit with slave wages and no rights or benefits?

maga 1: hmmmm, durrrrrrr.

maga 2: I know! Children!

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 7 points 8 months ago (3 children)

We can replace the national anthem with that music they use in movies when people are rowing or such. you know. da na na naaa. da na na naa naaa.

[–] idebugonprod@lemmy.zip 7 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Asked Gemini what song you're referring to because I had no clue, and it came back with "O Fortuna"

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 6 points 8 months ago

Children are the future, but the now belongs to me.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 5 points 8 months ago
