I'll provide an option for middle ground, based on an agrarian workflow. A (pre-industrial) agrarian workflow would be something along the lines of : busy spring (planting), calm summer (tending), insane fall (harvesting), dead winter (nothing).

For a modern worker, this can be easily replicated with 8 weeks paid vacation, with an impedimeded 4 week block.
