Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche completed nine hours of meetings over two days with Ghislaine Maxwell on Friday but made no public statements about what she said or the next steps in the Justice Department’s much-criticized Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

Former prosecutors said it was highly unusual — and potentially unprecedented — for a the department’s No. 2 official to personally interview a witness. Secrecy in a criminal investigation is normal, but the prosecutors involved in the case would typically be included in questioning.

“I’ve never heard of a deputy attorney general doing anything like this before,” said a former senior Justice Department official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Shocked, yes shocked I am to find the entirety of the United States government acting in the capacity of this demented rapist’s personal fixers.

No one knew this would happen.

Shocked.

When you get it back, you'll be able to hear its faint, horrified screams

Fed is trying to get enough names out of her that they don’t like in order to go after them instead of Trump, that way we get distracted.

and then what? She has no credibility as she is being either coerced or bribed. Neither does the current US government. Whatever she or any of them say at this point, it cannot be trusted.

[–] womjunru@lemmy.cafe 2 points 1 week ago

Seems like she just cut a deal. So much for can’t be trusted

When Mike Fucking Johnson says it’s dumb you know it’s dumb.

I will note the obvious concern, the caveat, that Chairman Comer and I and everyone has, that — could she be counted on to tell the truth? Is she a credible witness? I mean, this is a person who’s been sentenced to many, many years in prison for terrible, unspeakable, conspiratorial acts, and acts against innocent young people. I mean, can we trust what she’s going to say?

It’s likely he is saying that to lay the groundwork for IF she tells the truth.

How could they write this article and not bother to mention that Todd Blanche was Trump's personal attorney?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Gotta vet the list to make sure it’s only the regime’s political enemies.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 6 points 1 week ago

I don't she was just listing names. More likely they came with a list and she was just answering questions about it.

  • So, Ghislaine, I think we have an understanding here. Now let's go down the list: Bill Clinton
  • Pedophile
  • Good. Barack Husain Obama.
  • Pedophile
  • Good. Donald Trump
  • Never meet that guy.
  • Good...

Okay, nothing to see here, folks. Move along, move along.

Maybe they’re hiring her to plan Trumps next birthday party, she knows what he likes

[–] ikidd@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Blanche was Trump's fixer before he was put into the Justice Dept. I wonder what he's "fixing"...

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

The cover-up is continuing. Millions will be spent to back up the cover-up. Deals will be made. Bribes and extortion are inevitable. The orange pedophile will never be held accountable.
