After being damaged for just less than half of their health, they change into a "reinforced" state, which is in reality just a bit weaker against the maracas' crush attack style. However, if you then attack it with a crush special attack (even though its crush defence is already at just +10), it'll drop all of its defence bonuses.

This mechanic comes across like a neat mechanic that would be useful in an Earth Nagua boss, but for regular naguas this feels rather silly. You first need to deal about 60 damage to the nagua, while it still has a minimum of +30 for each melee style. It then turns into a reinforced version, but in reality this only lowers its defence in the relevant attack style for this monster. So at that point you're already happy: their crush defence went down by 40 points.

At this point, you've demonstrated your ability to deal damage to them through a +30 or higher defensive bonus. Why would you now take the extra effort to switch weapons, use up spec energy, and switch back to your dps weapon, all to reduce +10 defence down to 0?

Like I said, this mechanic would make sense in a boss encounter. If the boss then occasionally throws up its defensive stats (instead of lowering its crush, like these do) by activating its reinforced form, requiring you to use a crush spec to weaken it again, that'd be a pretty neat mechanic. Right now, though, this feels pretty pointless.

So.... Earth nagua boss when? :P
