They sold 3D printers? Did they explode as-well?

[–] einkorn@feddit.org 23 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Isn't extrusion a slow form of exploding?

[–] nilloc@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 1 week ago

If the filament is humid enough, sure.

Doesn't exploding require combustion?

[–] thenextguy@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

No. A compressed air tank can explode from too much pressure.

I learned the other day that anker just rebrands/white-labels alibaba level products.

[–] artyom@piefed.social 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

There are many many companies doing this. But the smart brands will use their name as a sort of stamp of 'this is actually a decent product" because the market is absolutely chock full of e-waste.

yeah it's true, but anker has been having a lot of recalls lately. And when the product costs 1/5 the price on aliexpress/baba then it might be worth it for some things.

Sometimes the ones that are a fifth the price on AliExpress are the ones that failed QA testing for the whitelabeller, or they're the same board with lower-rated components attached, so they're not necessarily identical.

Most definitely a W for Anker.
