Where are they getting an average salary of $7,920 a month for the US? I see about $62k a year which is just over $5k a month. Granted, that's median, but I can't find the mean.

Mean is a bad average for salaries anyway. It's skewed by the ridiculously high earners.
It is, but I was trying to give the article the benefit of the doubt because I expect that to be higher.
