Imagine the enthusiasm, holy fuck how it baffles me when I think what a majestic day is still yet to come

Couches will be nervous, though.

I'm not much of a wine person, but if I'm still around and not disappeared to a camp, I'm gonna knock back a bottle of champagne when it happens. I've already made my peace with the fact he'll never see justice for anything he's done, but god willing I'll get to read his obituary with a shit-eating grin on my face.

Well, there's a silver lining perhaps: One of the worst effects of dementia is how it completely isolates you from the world and traps you in your own mental misery and despair. So I at least take solace knowing that the remaining years of his life will be, whether he wants to admit it or not, a nightmare he cannot escape from.

100%. The only people I feel bad for in that scenario are the nurses and aides who will be tasked with helping him. Though considering how many are from demographics that he's made life more difficult for (working class, usually women, often PoC, possibly from another country (the Philippines in particular train a lot of nurses/aids that go to work in the US)), the final coda of Trump's life may require him to be completely at their mercy. It'd be a complete reversal of power over him.

I've never hoped for somebody going into a nursing home before, but this guy deserves it.

I do have to say turning the White House into his personal nursing home was NOT on my bingo card.

WTF

"a bottle of champagne"?

Jesus. I will be black out drunk from the case(s) I'll be opening. I'll celebrate in the fucking streets with everyone until I physically can't anymore.

Gonna throw a party when it happens lol

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Let’s just hope he doesn’t drag too many with him into the grave.

[–] halvar@lemy.lol 4 points 1 week ago

At this point I think I wouldn't be that surprised if one day it would just turn out he is immortal after all.

So true lol at all those Victorian photos all dead and not one colour photo.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago

There's something about black and white photos that add a certain gravitas to just about anyone.
I mean, I hate the man. Absolutely and completely detest him but I'll be the first to admit that in that picture he looks like...that I hope he dies a long and painful death.

I have the Champagne and party poppers ready and waiting.

My local bridge (the card game) community has taken to calling trump "Lincoln". As in..."What's Lincoln?". It was funny at first but it seems to have stuck. "Gulf of America" indeed.

[–] jaschen306@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

First Hogan, then Trump.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (3 children)

don't you dare fucking die before you stand trial, you fascist cunt.

[–] breecher@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago

So he is going to live forever? Because noone is going to put him on trial.

[–] shneancy@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

he won't stand trial, there's so much wildely known and yet he still holds the title of one of the most powerful positions on this planet. there won't be a trial, and there won't be justice, history will remember him as a monster but he most likely won't experience any consequences

[–] Retrograde@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

Hell would have to freeze over 1000 times before trump will be made to stand trial before he died

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 1 week ago

I don't care anymore. Just let it happen soon please.
