Original Title: The Netapp DS4246 disk shelf my server connects to for additional drives has no 'soft off', you just flip the PSU switch and it roars to life till you cut power. With a smart power bar, load from the server triggers the shelf's outlet, so the shelf turns on and off automatically with the server. :D
