So I've applied for a health care card from centrelink. Please send this. Ok no worries. Your claim is on hold until you send this. Ok no worries. Your claim is on hold until you send this. Ok no worries. They don't send an email to say it's on hold. You gotta check the site like a fucking stooge to find out what's going on. Today it was "We need both sides of your partner's drivers licence". Mother fuckers could've told me that 8 fucking cunt weeks ago when I uploaded our licences. I am beyond shitty now.

Anyway cheers 🍺

"despite being fed a treat 20 mins ago, I'm going to sit in front of the plate and hope old mate feels guilty and gives me more right now"

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They force me to live off dust... I'm not sure how much longer I can survive these conditions.

So there's 3 phases.

This is phase one.

Phase 2 is licking the crumbs on the plate and looking back at me (my wfh setup is just there)

Phase 3 ramps it up. It's headbutts to the leg.

If after all that I don't give in, its jump and hang onto my leg with claws.

Ours used to sit in front of the food cupboard, looking from it to us to indicate where the food was, that she should be having but wasn’t

depressive shite lolMan I have been having a rough week. Messy sleep patterns, malaise, depression. Last night with those emails set off some CPTSD related symptoms I hadn't felt in a while. Just pure panic and flashbacks, adrenaline and the side effects.

I don't even know why I'm writing this, what I'm doing, and whether I'll ever get to where I want to be. Everything feels pointless and hopeless. The road to my goals is covered in a dense grey fog and I've lost my way, I just want to lie down and let the world wash over me.

Maybe I've caught something lol

This is all so normal. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Here’s hoping that the intensity fades

Company gave us a wellness day off today. I mean it was because they did a bunch of layoffs but hey, I'll take it.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 2 weeks ago

I only put the dunny seat in there because it was clean and it said "recyclable" on there. I was trying to do the right thing, ok. πŸ™‚

Wow, my local Burgatory used to be great, now they're mid af and exy as. Sorry kids but I don't think we'll be doing that again. And they messed up the order. I order food maybe 2x a week from various places, and it would seem that at least one order a week is just wrong, everything from forgetting the dipping sauce which goes with an item, forgetting one whole meal from the order (everyone except one person gets food) or just putting totally the wrong items in the bag. It seems to be getting worse! The only person who gets my order right every time is the old Italian guy from the local old school pizza shop 🀌🏼

How did the meeting with minipeeler and the school go?

[–] PeelerSheila@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It seemed to go okay. She was asked lots of questions about how she learns and what she likes and doesn't like and how she approaches certain problems. My daughter prattled along quite amiably πŸ˜† There were no right or wrong answers, just getting to know you type things. We won't find out whether she's been accepted until later in the term. I've got my fingers and everything else that's crossable, crossed.

At the start she was asked if she prefers to be referred to as "she" or "he" (it's a pretty tolerant school) and I learnt that she doesn't identify as a girl, which was.. interesting. For a while I've thought of her as being kind of "androgynous" (I guess that was a typical word used when I was younger to describe the kind of person she is) but I didn't realise that she just doesn't identify as female. She's definitely not a "girly girl," but then neither was I really. I didn't really enjoy feminine dressing until I was in my late twenties maybe? πŸ€” She doesn't correct me when I call her a girl, so I didn't really know how far her thinking/feeling went in that regard. I was not looking forward to the more physical aspects of her reaching puberty, but now I am absolutely dreading it. I'm trying to be accepting and progressive, but to me she is always my beautiful girl, clever and strong, a free spirit. I don't really know how to feel or what to think. Sorry for the lengthy response, I'm just a bit confused and trying to process it all.

I’m back from doctor and supply runs.

Doc says it’s not too bad of an injury and to keep it covered with a dressing and take care of it.

The nail at the moment in theory should be ok as it wasn’t lifted up too much but still has a chance to come off.

Have to keep it dry and it was a nightmare trying to wash myself and keep it dry.

I also have a been given a few days off and only need to go back to work on Wednesday.

But of pain. No broken bones thankfully.

Fingers crossed it heals ok from here!

Edit: quite painful to walk around normally Argh

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The real problem will be sleeping tonight. It's quite remarkable how much toes get impacted by sheets, doona covers etc. I recommend rolling up a towel and securing it with string or masking tape or some such to put in the foot of your bed to hold the sheet up off your toe. Or a really thick book or some such item would do too. Source: the last time I ripped a whole toenail off by wearing socks with a hole in them on a day's bushwalking.

In bed before nine. This is good.

I’m going to read some of my big dumb book, and then I’m going to bed

Just watched the Wiggles at Hamer Hall in the city. The boys really liked it but thought it was a bit loud

Building on yesterday's awesome news, I finally got a follow up call from the ATO today and yes, there was some weirdass error by my super where they definitely did not send through any information the first time (not even the notice of intent to claim; the deduction was missing entirely), and I was told that they are actually legally required to do it within 10 business days, so they 100% messed up as by the time I did my tax return it should've been done...

And even then, trying to check it on my own is a pain as as even after the super fund does submit the data (which they did do right after I called them last week to go WTF), it can ages for it to show up on my ATO portal - it's been over a week, and I can't still see any contribution on my end - but the ATO dude could see it on his end, and only because he did a deep-dive into the raw data, and that's because the case was escalated to that level, so...

Long story short, at least it's all sorted out now, and I will get an updated tax assessment in about 5-7 business days with a refund of ~$950 like I expected to, instead of a tax bill of $2.5k like I currently have. SIGH. Coming in clutch because I would've had to change my plans considerably otherwise...

Will have to draft up a stern email to the super about please not letting it happen again kthx.

Last night in the middle of the night I made a trip to the fridge and stubbed my toe badly on the door.

I later discovered why it was still hurting and I had managed to lift the toe nail a little bit. Let’s say half a cm as a best guess.

Does this require a trip to the doctors?

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

that doesn't sound good

I'd keep an eye on it and see a doc if it isn't getting better in a day or two

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

Im going to the docs just incase, been forever since I’ve seen a doctor for something.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Same as the lovely people below, but I'd pop a bandaid around the toe to keep anything from getting under the nail, and you'll probably bruise up!

Might be ok. Depends on if it’s bleeding, anything potentially broken, any signs of infection. If you’re unsure probably get it checked out just to be safe

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 6 points 2 weeks ago

There was some bleeding, there’s pain at the moment probably from where the little bit of nail lifted, may not be as bad as I thought but I did take the day off.

I’ve booked a doctor for today and just incase to at least get a medical cert.

pet lossMy aunt got Geoffrey the dog and brought him over almost everyday. He is the reason why we got our dog. He would be so excited to see us when got home and run to the door before we got our semi-territorial dog. He got diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma at the beginning of this year. He's only eight. It started with a few purple lumps and the vet removed them thinking everything was fine. But he also had a fuck ton of tumours inside his body. My aunt has been wanting to do everything she can to improve his quality of life, and he's done the maximum amount of the specific chemo that made the past few months a bit better for him. She feels guilty that she couldn't save him. But this cancer doesn't have a known cure.

We think it's his time to go now, and he's not going to make it over the next few days. He's a tiny bit excited to go for walks and play fetch, but he's not eating and is weak.

He loved playing fetch and would always sneak balls in the house. We would roll the ball to him and he'd always roll it back. He was incredibly obedient, to the point where if he heard one of us say sit in a conversation, he would sit. He was an excellent companion to all of us.

I’m so sorry. Losing a beloved pet is heartbreaking, especially if you have to make the decision. Hope you can have a last snuggle before the time comes.
