I counted the first line, it had 13 trees, then counted the number of lines (11), did the maths to get started with the average as first guess, turned out to be correct !

I love these puzzles btw

I have learned I perpetually guess low. I have turned to throwing away my first guess and pretending it was low, then guessing a good bit higher.

I'm still always low
