Chinese brands dominated developing markets last year, capturing 85% of EV sales in both Brazil and Thailand

BYD’s strategy extends beyond shipping cars from China. The company is opening research and development centers in Brazil and Hungary this year, while establishing overseas parts warehouses, including a facility in the Netherlands stocking 22,000 components.

Geely, Li Auto, Chery, GAC, Changan Automobile, and Great Wall Motor are building production lines, dealership networks, and service centers across multiple continents, creating local jobs and making governments more receptive to Chinese automotive investment, trade experts said.
