This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.
YTPB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.
Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

Does this dude ever sleep? Like all he does is whine and complain 24/7 and then act like anyone put off by him is a fascist in disguise.
Actions have consequences, and he's mad his actions have the lightest of consequences. Holy shit guy just wants an excuse for everything he does, and no one else gets one.
He's saying db0 banning someone for their actions is evil, yet power trips and bans people in unrelated communities because he finds them evil for not advocating for genocide. Good Lord.
I know people like this in real life and I swear they live for the fight but only ones that they think they can win. They get a thrill from being right or having power and their use is good and for their own betterment and anyone else is just mistaken and wrong and needs to be corrected or pushed aside to make room for someone they can push down or back upon.
Way back, when I was still on .worId and PJ was newer, I once diffused an argument they wanted to start with me, simply by holding my ground and nicely picking apart their (admittedly bad) arguments. They seemed more interested in winning than what was actually correct and they admitted to having a temper that led to that behavior.

Like 6 months back, PugJeuss said he was done trying to win fights on the internet. The replies chuckled at him and said he clearly doesn't mean it. And then he got mad at you for not believing him.

First person i blocked on lemmy because they don't believe in neopronouns. Which essentially means "I'll respect how you identify as long as i think it's a valid identity".

However, imo blocking him is a double-edged sword as he posts so prolifically you end up wiping out heaps of Lemmy content that normal people engage with, and Lemmy is fairly small.
He's made 11,942 (!) posts in 733 days. That's over 16 posts a day you drop by blocking him, I only looked on his main account. Didn't count his secondary db0.
I blocked him and any alts of his that I could identify back when he was frequently trying to get .world to defederate from .ml. The decrease in content is unnoticeable but the decrease in insufferable manufactured drama is massive.
Ok you were right, I kept an eye out for his content for the next week or so and it was all stuff I could live without.

Mod (different mod to this one here) removed my comment (in which I was replying to PugJesus) criticising Isreaeli propaganda as "fucking lies".

I then commented again (replying to PugJesus) and replaced word "fucking" with "censured by mods" to not give the mod any pretext to delete my comment again.
After that PugJesus banned me from completely unrelated community in revenge.

Just to make something clear, mods do not have the ability to edit comments of other users. Even admins would probably have to do a bit of technical hacking to do so.
