That's why I occasionally bring my dog to do errands.

"Oh you wanna go too, pupper? Okay, come with me to the post office". She loves it, by the way.

An errand isn't that different from a walk, from their point of view. My dog would usually come with me and wait in the car when the weather wasn't too warm for that.

I have cameras monitoring my dog when I am away. He is singing the song of loneliness for like ten minutes every time I leave, then he gets back to his usual habits. No signs of stress or anxiety.

Every time we go out together we have fun. I think he is actually singing the song of how unfair it is that I'm leaving to have fun and him having to stay at home.

I wonder how my dog explained why I had a fridge full of food but refused to share.

So they think I went on a really long walk, but hated it?

Maybe that's why they're so happy you're home!

"I'm sorry you had such a bad hunt, human!! But you're safe! You will try tomorrow, and I will celebrate with you!!"

rofl

Edit: I'm still laughing.. "holy cow, our boy sure didn't like that crazy long walk he took. Maybe he should cut them shorter.."

If a dog year = 7 human years. Then your 4 hour trip to them felt like 28 hours.

My neighbor's dog certainly thinks so, given the volume of barks that reach crescendo just as they exits their apartment.

...And like everyone else in the comments, their dog also forgets about it within minutes!
