Pragmatic Leftist Theory

The neolibs are too far right. The tankies are doing whatever that is. Where's the space for the people who want fully-automated-luxury-gay-space-communism, but realize that it's gonna take a while and there are lots of steps between now and then? Here. This is that space.

Here, people should endeavor to discuss and devise practical, actionable leftist action. Vote lesser evil while you build grassroots coalitions. Unionize your workplace. Participate in SRAs. Build cohesion your local community. Educate the proletariat.

This is a place for practical people to develop practical plans to implement stable, incremental improvement.

If you're dead-set on drumming up all 18,453 True Leftists® into spontaneous Revolution, go somewhere else. The grown ups are talking.

Rules:

-1. Don't be a dick. Racism, sexism, other assorted bigotries, you know the drill. At least try to default to mutually respectful discussion. We're all on the same side here, unless you aren't, in which case kindly leave.

-2. Don't be a tankie. Yes I'm sure you have an extensive knowledge of century-old theory. There's been a century of history since then. Things didn't shake out as expected, maybe consider the possibility that a different angle of attack might be more effective in light of new data.

-3. Be practical. No one on the left benefits from counterproductive actions. This is a space informed by, not enslaved to, ideology. Promoting actions that are fundamentally untenable in the system in question, because they fulfill a sense of ideological purity, is a bad look. Don't do that.

Can't you crosspost this, or is this for the benefit of people whose instances have defederated from lemmy.world?

I'm not used to cross posting on Lemmy, clicking on the post itself should take you to the original yes? Is there a more overt way to cross post?

You can click on the post, but you can't interact with it if you're not logged into a lemmy.world account.

In the standard lemmy web client, under the post there's a button to the right of the "favourite"-star that takes you to a dialogue to crosspost the post. Of course, you need to actually get to the post from your account first; IDK how to link to specific posts on different instances in this way, but you can link to communities in this way: !politicalmemes@lemmy.world - it takes me to the address https://feddit.org/c/politicalmemes@lemmy.world, which is that post's community as seen from my own instance, you will see it from your own instance, assuming your client has implemented this feature. Once you're there, you can scroll and ctrl-f a bit to get to the post (https://feddit.org/post/16080193 for me).

I'm using Sync, I used the "Share" option on the original post to copy the URL and use it for the post here.

I'm not logged into a lemmy.world account and I can interact with it no problem, but I know that's just a "it works on my machine".

Is my edit better?

No, the link in your post still takes me to the lemmy.world website.

I tried navigating through the web client, but that seems worse, it doesn't link anywhere. This one worked fine in web though. I dunno, I can't replicate your issue.

Well, the post links the image directly (which is at least convenient for looking at it without having to navigate to a different webpage), but it doesn't link to the original post so it's not really a crosspost ...

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh, weird, it's the exact opposite for me. The first one takes me directly to the original, the second doesn't link to the original at all. Maybe it's a Sync thing?

Sorry, I didn't notice at first that the second post is just the image and not actually a crosspost and decided to edit my comment instead of making a new one. I guess I was too slow, most people don't answer to replies within 10 seconds.
