The current clan invite system in OSRS is unnecessarily clunky and confusing. Between Friends Chat, Guest Clan Chat, and Clan Chat, everything is stacked into the same interface, and for newer or returning players, it’s incredibly unintuitive to figure out where you are and how to join a clan.
Even worse, the person inviting has to stop whatever they're doing, go into the clan interface, open up the application tab, and manually accept people one by one. If you're mid-activity or bossing, it's a huge interruption. There's no quick way to just invite someone on the fly.
Some issues:
- No clear distinction between “Guest Chat” and “Friends Chat” unless you already understand the system.
- Players often try joining Friends Chat instead of Guest Clan Chat, then get confused when nothing works.
- The invite/accept process is buried in menus, world hopping and requires too many steps.
- The Clan Recruitment Board is nearly useless unless you keep an alt permanently parked there with applications open. Even then, it’s world-specific.
I know the current clan system only came out about 4 years ago, but it still feels like it's lagging behind MMOs from 2001 in terms of usability and basic functionality. In its current state, it's a pain for both leaders and new recruits, has Jagex ever commented on plans to improve or rework it?
