You can't see them very well in this picture but I also see two big flags of this, with a bigger stripe.

Omg that goes so hard

Article the image is from if anyone wants to read context: https://web.archive.org/web/20230921064930/https://www.irishtimes.com/ireland/social-affairs/2023/09/16/rival-protests-over-trans-rights-take-place-in-dublin-city/

CW: transphobia

Irish-born, British-based academic and author Helen Joyce said that if women cannot insist on women-only spaces then they have no rights. “They (the counter-protesters) don’t understand that women’s rights depend upon women being able to set boundaries that exclude all men however they identify,” she said.

...

She also described the forthcoming Criminal Justice (Incitement to Violence or Hatred and Hate Offences) Bill 2022 as “literally Orwellian.” “People all over the political spectrum know what is happening here is wrong. We have to keep saying it is because human rights depend upon it.”

I've always wondered, is it ever a good idea to bring communist flags to a protest? All the ones I attend are organized by communists and are mostly attended by anarchists but the issues are never explicitly communist. Stuff like trans rights and anti police

It has to be bad optics for the news coverage right? Tbh that's how I view the anarchy flags they bring and the black bloc (even though I understand why and I also do black bloc)

I view all normalisation of communism as a good thing.

Trans people seeing it see that communists are allies. And the more communism is seen in the mainstream the more it forces people to learn about it. Yeah fascists will spread bullshit too but silence and hiding ourselves doesn't stop that. It's self marginalisation.

I think normalizing it as a "valid" viewpoint is a good thing. Most westerners have never in their life met someone who was outspokenly Communist. But they've been inundated their whole lives with anti-communist propaganda.

It's easy to hate a theoretical enemy. It becomes harder when they have acquaintances, friends, family, and people who are fighting on their behalf (as above) who are Communists.
