Ukraine's coming up on 4 years of war with an invading enemy that's got more than 3 times their population. Of course there's going to be some less than ideal military recruitment. The whole point of this article is stupid as hell.

The article answers the questions pretty well:

Mental illnesses don't go in your standard file. You have to give permission. If you don't give permission, the people at the draft office can't see your diagnosed illness.

If you then tell them... Well, they can't tell the difference between someone telling the truth and making shit up to dodge the draft.

According to the article it's when people haven't updated their medical file that they could be drafted, iirc. Having psychological problems are often used as an excuse by enlisted people. But if you provide documents and or update your medical files, you draft notice gets revoked.

Let's just say that our political spectrum starts way more the left. And the US spectrum starts way to the right.

Yup, it sucks being trapped in it, I know it is only a matter of time before ADHD and autism becomes even more of a punching bag for right wing empty headed leaders. I also know centrists will look at me being crushed to death, shrug and say "It is what it is, if you wanted to survive you would try harder like everyone else."

When someone is suffering in the US the conditioned kneejerk response here is to think "They must have done something to deserve that suffering, here let me help" and then kick the person who has fallen down for good measure.
