I want to jailbreak my XR. I am in 18.6, which cannot be jailbroken. I want ti downgrade it to the latest jailbreak compatible version.

the latest jailbreakable version for an xr is 16.5.1 which is no longer signed so you won’t be able to jailbreak your phone. However, if you’re just trying to sideload apps then you might want to try altstore + livecontainer (to bypass the three app limit).

I use Sidestore but it is janky and overall the system feels pointlessly restrictive especially after using linux as my pc

In that case it might be better to just switch to android when you get a new phone.

My next phone will be android but right now I don’t want to buy anything because everyone is launching new stuff. I’ll let the prices settle down

You used to be able if you could restore a backup you made on a previous phone version.

This has been a massive pain point for app developers who want to test their work on different os versions.

I don’t care about my data. I can start from Scratch

Without a backup from a previous os version, I don’t think there is a way.
