Along these lines, I feel like until pretty recently, the go-to way that filmmakers would show that a character is a paranoid weirdo type is to have a video intercom on their front door. Now it seems every other house has at least a doorbell camera. Which is worse in a lot of ways since they are controlled by a company who will give up footage without a warrant...

I guess it will invert in the future and the paranoid weirdos will be the ones without all the cameras thonk-cri

They also sell the footage and data to marketing companies lol

The over reliance on this type of surveillance has two problems.

First, agencies have too much data. There are solutions to soft through all of that noise but it makes it very difficult to casually catch something you're not actively searching for.

Second, because everyone is painfully aware of technology able to spy on you now, and most law enforcement relies too heavily on subpoenas of data from these devices rather than active taps, it is far easier to avoid surveillance when you want privacy.

PS: Keep an old car (or motorcycle) in working condition. Manual transmission or kick start is best

my car isnt a manual, was made in the past ten years, and isnt able to spy on me. Most cars that could connect to a satellite/cell tower probably need a subscription to do so. My phone could spy on me i guess, but not the car itself. Recommending manual transmissions is silly anymore. Automatics are more fuel efficient now too. Plus manuals are disappearing. There are 95 new manual cars within a 50 mile radius of my location, and about 11,000 automatic/CVT. For used cars made since 2013 there is 400+ manuals an about 24,000 auto/cvt near me.

Extra point: If one can manage to get a car made 2013 or later, they should, because that it when side airbags were made mandatory. Rear view camera was made mandatory in 2014.
