I mean, no, that's a fucking lie, but hey ho it makes em feel good huh

How is that a lie, if he believes it?

I don't believe in God, but I don't call someone a liar because they believe.

Not everyone has everything figured out at 18. But sure, continue expelling the same hate as a bigot, at the wrong people.

You're not wrong, but I really see no point in alienating people with combat training whose only crime was falling for the lies of political leaders

The point is that pandering to the pre-Trump status quo as good or just completely misses the very real crimes past administrations were committing on a daily basis. The problem didn't start in 2025 or even 2017, and pretending it did will doom anti-fascism in America. If you can't talk about the problem you'll never solve it, and people taking pride in having fought to enforce American imperial will on foreign populations is part of the problem.

Idk man, that excuse didn't stick for nazi soldiers at the nürnberg trials and it shouldn't stick for war criminals either. Considering the large civilian death toll from US involved wars, lots of veterans are war criminals by international standards. The US just doesn't prosecute them because that would mean having to prosecute all the leadership too.

I didn't say anything about excusing war criminals, obviously everyone who knowingly committed or ordered attrocities should be held accountable. I said we don't need to alienate people whose only crime was falling for the lies of their political leaders, and there are tons of veterans like that.

There are basically no veterans that have been actively deployed that havent turned a blind eye to crimes. I wouldnt go as far as saying there are no good veterans, but its pretty close.
