"Transportation using lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, especially electric ones that may be borrowed as part of a self-service rental program in which people rent vehicles for short-term use within a town or city.

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

To be fair they have pretty amazing fall gear these days, looks like they're wearing one similar to the ones worn by the racing motorcyclists and these guys regularly rip across the track at even higher speed and just get up no problem.

And illegal as fuck on about any street.

Just like regular e-scooters then.

Normal e-scooters are dangerous, but at that level, they become a threat.

[โ€“] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

They're already a threat.

I'm gonna need more angular momentum at 100 mph than what tiny little scooter wheels are providing. Absolutely terrifying device.

One rock and then a 500ft slide on pavement. No thanks.

$29.5k? Might as well just get a new car or a good used car

You can get a really solid Prius for that kind of money. Probably even a plug-in

Sir, this is ~~a Wendy's~~ c/micromobility.

I am fairly sure this outrageous novelty product is meant for people who already have a new car and a good used car in their garage. They're not gonna consider an old Miata as an alternative to it.

Truth in advertising. Just call it "Meat Crayon (maker)."

Man, the scooter formfactor scares me past 20-25. I'd want much bigger wheels for something that can do north of 30. Imagine getting speed wobbles or hitting a fist-sized rock doing 50.

Thankfully it seems like this is exclusively for track use, but even then, good God that is really pushing the envelope of that formfactor.....
