My friend keeps telling me to watch kpop demon hunters. I am almost certain it's a mid tier garbage movie but just because it has a couple catchy songs and good animation it appeals to the general masses.

Can anybody confirm or deny this?

Its strange to me that this is even a question that needs to be asked. All art is subjective and opinions will always differ. So if you haven't already, just watch it and decide for yourself.

Just don't watch it with your homies or your pride might get in the way of you enjoying it.

..or do, and enjoy it anyway. It's actually pretty funny in parts, and the movie is going viral for its songs, they're actually good songs for once. Thank fuck. I'm so sick of listening to "Let it Go" 10 times a week with my 6 year old daughter. It's a relief for parents everywhere.

I watched it and resonated with my previous thoughts and other comments in here.

The movie itself is very well done and lots of effort was put in to it. The storyline wasn't anything surprising and the songs are catchy for some people. While I don't think it's the best movie ever like some people may think it is, I can't say it's a terrible movie either.

It's a good movie. It's not just a couple of catchy songs and good animation. It's funny, it has heart, satisfying character arcs, cool fight scenes and a decent, meaningful story. I don't think it does anything revolutionary, but it is competently made and has a wholesome message.

I think the issue for most is that it is clearly made for girls and we're still at a time where that means that it can't be considered good. I'm certainly not the first person to observe this irrational devaluation of all things girly (though there are always outliers that do specifically celebrate girly things), but since I got a little older and could let go of my own shame of enjoying some girly things, I have noticed that more and more. I suspect it's because "manly" stuff is celebrated so much. Even the trashiest, mid tier garbage "manly man" movies are somehow considered at least "ironically" cool and good, while girly movies have somehow to achieve way more to get the same amount of respect... anyway, rant over.

I think Kpop Demon Hunters is actually good and you will enjoy it if you like animated action-comedies and can enjoy movies that are targeted at girls (instead of boys).

I just left a short review in the weekly thread with this movie. While I do not count K-pop amongst my proclivities, it was an enjoyable albeit shallow fare - though it never promised to be more.

If you piss your pants at the thought of enjoying a movie, maybe you just don’t like movies

If OP's reaction qualifies as "pissing your pants", hyperbole is not your thing.

I watch many movies and wanted to be mentally prepared before I ate shit.
