That's interesting. I figured I'd look it up on a map, see if I could find it without using the search function. I went past Guinea-Bissau and I saw a bunch of little islands with Portuguese names. It took me a while to realize I needed to go further south to find Equatorial Guinea.
I know Angola used to be a colony. You can kind of see how Portugese colonists stayed close to the west African coastline and stopped on offshore islands.
I wonder if there is any connection between Lagos, former capital of Nigeria, and Lagos, Portugal?
Edit: Wikipedia has a source that states it used to be called Eko but Portuguese traders renamed it Lagos for Lagos, Portugal since it was the basis for maritime expeditions to west Africa.
