Civ 2 was such an improvement over the first one. I remember both playing and baking mods for it after I exhausted the base game. My second favorite in the series.

This is the first time I've seen a Civ game title stylized as if it were a 1970s Apple computer.

I love how interlinked the tech tree was. In later versions it became a much simpler tree-based hierarchy which is easier to mentally navigate but way less realistic.
