RimSort is an open source mod manager for Rimworld and they just released a new update. I haven't played Rimworld for half a year, so haven't used RimSort, but I was blown away by the state of it now. So good!

Is this intended for non-steam installations? The workshop is already super easy to use

If it's anything like RimPy it lets you organise mods without having to load into the game first. Super useful if you've got hundreds of mods and the game takes an hour to boot up.

Plus RimPy automatically sorts mod load order.

I don't have hundreds, but a couple dozen mods, and I was surprised by how fast 1.6 beta loads, compared to 1.5.

It's for sorting mods in the correct load-order to avoid errors. You can also convert steam-mods to local mods to prevent them updating, if you wish.

Yup, for Ludeon or gog purchases p.e..

How does it compare to RimPy?

[–] fiddlesticks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 month ago

Unlike rimpy it is both open source and still getting updates, besides that I'd say functionality is basically the same

I never used RimPy since I play one a mac. It seems to me that most features that are in RimPy have also been included in RimSort, including searching in mod files, troubleshooting tools and texture compression.
