Remember to test any 2nd hand cast iron for lead. Cast iron is commonly used for melting lead.
I picked up a cast Iron and absolutely hate it, so much work with it and still stuff sticks, I also don't think it's good for induction stoves as the middle gets way hotter than the rest.
Ah could be the induction thing. . I'm on a glass top. So I can't speak to it.
Tho the key with cast iron generally, is like 300°ish and food lube. Like bacon grease, butter or oil.
Hate that you've not had a good time with it.
Im on my 6th or 7th midlife crisis by now. That's not counting the ever present crises.
I also feel like our generation doesn't really have such a strict ruleset anymore to break free from during a midlife crisis. I'm 40 and my friends have just always been doing their "weird hobbies" like biking, travelling etc. There's noone who suddenly realizes at 40 that they have missed out and always wanted to see the pyramids, ride a motorcycle or completely change their career. Those who want to ride a motorbike have owned one for years, those who want to travel have done so since their 20s. The expectations have changed. You don't have to conform to a strict ruleset anymore and give up a lot when you become an adult. So there are less people with major regrets and "I wish I had done XYZ" in their 40s. At least in my bubble
I never viewed a midlife crisis as actually breaking free or feeling like your half way so you need to alter. I always viewed it as a, now I finally have money and am in a financially stable spot where I can risk money to splurge on something I normally wouldn't, point in life. Sadly, that seems gone. You'd be lucky if you have a stable career where you feel like you won't get fired tomorrow at 30. If you have anything left your desperately saving it for retirement.
Hard to have a midlife crisis if you haven't lived much of a life yet, in my case. Guess I'll just wait until I can afford a bus ride
