Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

liberty-weeping Unproductive workers same-picture Record profits and income inequality porky-happy

In my view the wealthy has enjoyed record unearned income and they got too used to the government handouts and unearned profiteering. Management and the executive suite got too fat and lazy. Time to trim the fat by imposing a 40-50% wealth tax unless they give that to the workers in increased wages.

Pay workers more or Tax the rich

twisted Or we could make cuts the revolutionary way. gui

so-true "That's why I will always support Capitalism: everyone is free to make their own choices without threats or coercion from a central authority figure!"

One of Australia's richest men has apologised after he said that unemployment should jump to remind arrogant workers of their place. BBC

[...]But Mr Gurner said later that he "deeply" regretted the comments, which sparked a global backlash.

He has previously made headlines by suggesting young people cannot afford homes because they spend too much on avocado toast.

[...]This generated a flurry of debate, and prompted the BBC to ask: how many pieces of avocado toast would it actually take to afford deposit on a home?

It turned out that in London at the time, buyers would have needed to forego 24,499 avocado toasts.

This guy reminds me so much of the asshole billionaire character in Silicon Valley show. The guy worried about how many commas are in his net worth figure. This guy just has a slightly less over the top arrogance, but you can hear it slip out in what he is saying.

i just find this clip interesting because it proves, in general, regardless of what the guy behaves like, that capitalists are not in fact "job creators" and do not in fact want 100% employment rate for all able-bodied adults. Because that would drive up the market price of labor power as a commodity that the workers sell to the capitalist. i.e. the more people are employed, the fewer potential scabs there are, the easier it is for workers to organize and demand higher wages, because the harder they are to replace if they walk out or go on strike, because there are fewer desperate unemployed in the labor market to replace them with. There needs to be a reserve army of unemployed in order to drive down the price of labor power. So the capitalist are not in fact job creators, but job gatekeepers. They need to employ people to make profit, obviously, but they are able to maximize that profit by keeping a certain portion of the population in abject misery and chronic unemployment so that, if employed workers threaten to quit, walk out, go on strike, etc, they can be replaced at a moment's notice with highly desperate unemployed people who've been seeking work for a long time. This proves that capitalist are also in favor of "planned economies." They plan for a certain percentage of unemployed to maximize their realized profit. They are not in favor of the "invisible hand" of the market, like they claim, but they are in favor of arbitrarily maintaining miserable conditions for their benefit, regardless of market factors like price, supply, and demand. They put their finger on the scale when it suits them, and they plan to increase (not just maintain) their wealth at the expense of society, whether or not they contribute anything of value.

Yes, it's very clear he's advocating specifically for the reserve army of labor as being a prerequisite for 'profitable normalcy' based on his class interests. Seems this guy has been saying the quiet part loud for years now (avocado toast etc).
