I assume the commenters on that article confidently proclaiming that keeping back overhanging branches will prevent possoms getting to the roof live in areas with underground power. Those connections are like possum highways.
I don't seem to get possums in the roof, I think because there is a constant resident in the blocked off chimney that has claimed the territory. Many possum families have been raised in that chimney.
I used to have brushtails in the ceiling right above my bed in my old apartment. They’d come home every morning at any 05:30 and wake me up. Took the landlord (who owned all the apartments) months to get them out.
But then another time I found that a ring tail made a nest in the pile of wood on the balcony. They’re so cute 🥰
No possums in my current place 😃
I only just learnt that Tasmanians eat possums...
There was a restaurant in the south eastern suburbs of Melbourne serving possum caught in Tasmania. I can’t remember the name of it. There was also one in Stawell. Before European settlement, possums were widely hunted for meat and fur in Victoria.
