Oh, please let this increase the fine ๐Ÿคฃ They're fucking around and they really have to find out.

Apple also is going to introduce a new set of rules for all app developers in Europe, which includes a fee called the โ€œcore technology commissionโ€ of 5% on all digital purchases made outside the App Store.

Another fine is coming.

If the US is willing to be such a bully, I don't see why the EU shouldn't begin to move away from Apple and Google. Some are already ditching Microsoft. Apple can fuck around and find out. The EU doesn't owe them anything and there is no high horse there. Get rekt, Tim.

EU need a clause where malicious compliance doubles the fines

[โ€“] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 month ago

Apple said it believed its plan is in compliance with the DMA and that it will avoid fines.

Of course it isn't because of course not.

These abusive fucks are narcissistic psychopaths who care about nothing but their money.

Companies like these should, no, must be prohibited altogether. This is why no company should be allowed to grow beyond a net worth of, says, a billion dollars, or 1000 employees. Any Worth beyond that? Tax it at 100%

Don't allow companies to grow to the point where they VAN be abusive

What reason does Apple think they serve any money for apps downloaded outside the app store? And don't give the BS answer of costs.

[โ€“] malwieder@feddit.org 8 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Their (not my!) reasoning is that the "Core Technology Fee" covers their costs for developing APIs and software like Xcode that developers rely on to build apps for the iPhone (and other Apple platforms).

Basically "without our stuff, you wouldn't have a platform". Except they completely ignore that without their stuff, the iPhone would not be able to exist, so it's obviously bs.
