For me it's not a meme, it's a symbol of hope and a great piece on its own. I don't mind at all people using more or less ironically because at least they are using it, and it's a tiny breach in the absolutely suffocating polish taboo wall.
Comradeship // Freechat
Talk about whatever, respecting the rules established by Lemmygrad. Failing to comply with the rules will grant you a few warnings, insisting on breaking them will grant you a beautiful shiny banwall.
A community for comrades to chat and talk about whatever doesn't fit other communities
Memes are often used as political tools, and the USSR anthem could have this potential to improve communism's image and perhaps make some people curious, but in its actual use case I see it used in a derogatory way mostly. Like "haha look 20 trillion dead stalin's big spoon" types. Similar to the credit score memes or the "bing chilling" ones., where they're funny because "Mao is a criminal" and etc.
It got me interested in Marxism-Leninism, so I approve 👍
I disagree, I think memes may be a good place for people to become interested in the soviet union and look into learning more. The right gains plenty of impressionable people through a similar manner, why not us?
I disagree. In a time and place where communism is frequently compared and deemed equal to nazism, anything that contributes to the normalization of communism or the Soviet Union is welcome.
Not like it is any productive to discuss about it however: one cannot control what does or what does not become a meme.
