Nice to know! When I had this problem, I ended up using a $1 set of hose clamps to wedge the piston.

(Tiger king meme goes here)
Just so I'm sure I understand, is the chair still upside down at the beginning of step #3? If so, can the chair be put right side up immediately after the completion of #3?
Yes, and yes. To break the steps down a little more:
- Compress the chair all the way down.
- Turn it upside down.
- Leave it 24 hours.
- While still upside-down, expand it
- Still upside-down, compress it again.
- Leave it 24 hours.
- Turn it rightside up and use it!
Another option I've used is to tape a piece of wood to the piston to "set" the height, how often do you actuality need to go up and down.
I do like the knowing about reoiling piston.
Maybe but this is $13 and it'll be good forever.
Looks like you got ripped off. Someone else posted a $1 permanent fix.
The advantage of my fix is that you still have an adjustable seat at the end.
