I said this once, the interviewer said " thank you but we're looking for people who are passionate about the work here"

It was a fucking burger king

You didn’t let me finish, I want this job so I can make money for burger king! I just really love ground up dead animals and… monarchy

To BKs credit, they have plant-based everything. In contrast to other fast food restaurants, which have a plant based something at best

It's a given that you're interviewing because you need money. They want to know why else you want the job.

Ill be honest, I answer that way because I need to know if they're going to communicate with me like a normal person, if you can't respond positively to that answer or at least laugh it off and redirect, then I 100% can't trust you to pull off the manager face every now and then and talk to me civilly about things /be understanding and not uphold policies that make no sense.

The vast majority of the time they don't give a shit when they ask this question, they're just testing your willingness to kowtow. But this is especially true when its a fucking burger king.

For sure. They're trying to find people who will work harder for less.

Only applies to some "skilled work" jobs tho, where you better have some passion or do a poor job.

I think this is actually a fair question in the service industry. You're just need to read between the lines

"Can you lie to my face in corpo speak? Can you do it unprompted, when we both know you're lying?"

It has always been my dream to be a successful employee at a corporation and help its CEO buy a yacht

"Do you want flowery talk about the greatness of the company or grounded talk?"

Heres the deal though, EVERYONE is after the job because they want money. Every single job, every single person. No ones working for free. They need something to differentiate the candidates from someone whose just gonna be a warm body vs someone who will actually get something done.

You know what I would just starve to death instead of working passionately for a corporate lord.
