Driving culture in Perth is quite disgusting. It would be nice if we had some light rail solutions. But then we would have to wait a decade for the first km to be completed.

I saw this the other day on lemmy, and thought theres a few places, like Albany highway (vic park - cannington), fremantle, along Beaufort street (northbridge - mount lawley), that could use it.
Especially to connect the main districts to their train stations better. Fremantles not bad in that regard, but Mount Lawley, Cannington and Vic Park are shockers.
Totally. Funnily i think thats where they used to be to. These days the first light rail id install would be to the universities and tafes.
Ooh, theres a couple prime locations,
Up Thomas Road from West Perth/Kings Park area, through the medical campuses, up around UWA. Then the Curtin and Murdoch campuses linking to the research park and hospital respectively. Yeah, i can definitely see those.
ECU Perth and Notre Dame are set up already well.
ECU Joondalup could connect better to Joondalup town, and train station, but i don't know why, i feel like this won't work as well as the others. Things feel soo spread out in Joondalup, and that campus felt so separate to everything else when i've been there. Maybe its just that a new place like Joondalup isn't built up as much as older places, so an inner city infrastructure solution like this sounds a bit odd.
Joondalup campus is a carpark that gives out degrees.
I have a looot of opinions on how hamfisted the planning around that campus is. They should have put the rail line stop closer and not put a major road between it and the campus. Hell. They have the police training, tafe and uni there. Its bonkers how its run. It be cool to have those whistle stop like trains around the campus. Id totally ride thomas to class.
