I'm planing to get a completely new setup for my desktop station and our family living room, and I need decide on how many channels I want in each one because we are renovating and it would be easy to build the infrastructure for a clean setup now. An advice on what companies to look into will also be very helpful.
For both setups, I might be able to reuse old speakers from my current place, but honestly, they never WOWed me, so I might get a new center, front left/right, and subs. Everything else, I can probably reuse what I have (small klipsh satellites from 20 years ago).
Let's start with my bedroom desktop setup. Currently, I have the Logitech G560 speakers, and while they are fine (after EQing the absolute shit out of them), I do want to see what's next. I also have a pair of Focal Radiance Headphones. My main use cases are gaming and anime, with some movies and Netflix on the side. I usually listen to music on headphones, but that might change if my setup is overwhelmingly better than my headphones.
I would prefer to spend less than 1000$ here, but I will spend up to 2000$ if you guarantee that it will blow my mind. I'm looking for a 2.1 or 5.1 setup that is as much plug and play as possible. I would also like it if said setup will also drive my current headphones further. What studio monitors, subs, and dac/amps should I look into? There are so many options out there that I have half a mind to just give up and be content with my current setup.
For my living room setup, I'm not even sure how many channels I want. We will sit at about 3-5 meters from the TV, and the room will be pretty open, at a size of about 40-50m². Use cases here are Netflix, cable TV, 4K blu rays, and music. The TV is probably going to be either LG G2 or G3 OLED, so I want a setup to compliment the visuals it can provide. What are your recommendations for the living room setup? The budget here is about 2000-2500$ at the most.
