I'm a pretty huge fan of Adam's earlier films, but I can't help but feel like this one missed the mark.

In particular, I was disappointed with the ending, which

spoilerconcludes with "Will we join together as we did in the past and fight back?" Only to then pull a... I dunno, inception ending moment by saying "Or is that just another feedback loop of nostalgia? Which is how the system controls you, and is the way this film was made."

What an absolutely useless and weirdly post-modernist conclusion. It makes me think of Lee Harvey Oswald's friend he focused on in a previous serious that wrote an article in Playboy about the illuminati to showcase how stupid conspiracy theories are, only to eventually believe his own lies later on and become a conspiracy crank that drank his own cool-aid.

It makes it seem like we need to second guess everything we do (which is stifling), instead of it being a pretty clear cut issue of capitalism, with fairly straight actions to take toward fixing it.
